Pullets

Pullets are young hens – less than a year old – that have not yet laid their first clutch of eggs.  Tipping the scales at 5 – 6 pounds, a pullet can easily feed a family of four.  Like other chickens, pullets can be prepared in a variety of ways.  Pullets are a favorite to use in making chicken soup and broth, and they are also delicious stewed or roasted (roast longer at a lower temperature than normal).
