Lionfish (Whole)

Lionfish (Pterois mombasae)

Contrary to some of the rumors going around, lionfish are not poisonous to eat (However, when cleaning a lionfish, be careful when removing the fins and their poisonous spines).  In fact, their tenderness and buttery flavor make it great for a simple pan-fry, lionfish tacos, fried tempura-style, Romesco Stew, or even a refreshing ceviche.  Lionfish are an invasive species that have had a negative effect on the local marine life.  Lucky for us, they’re also delicious!
