Ipswich Steamers

Ipswich Steamers.

A New England Favorite, Ipswich Steamers are delicious steamed and served with a side of their own broth and dipped in drawn butter. In addition to steaming, they are also delicious battered and fried.  Since they live in muddy or sandy tidal flats, you should soak your steamers in a solution of 1 tablespoon of sea salt per quart of water for several hours. Discard if the clam doesn’t respond to being tapped on its shell.
