Butterfish (Whole)

Butterfish is the main ingredient of this delicious curry dish.

Butterfish are relatively small (averaging 1/2 pound each) but have a delectable buttery flavor.  They can be prepared in a variety of ways, including stewed in curry, steamed, braised, baked and sauteed.  Butterfish is an excellent low-calorie source of protein:  The average serving contains less than 160 calories yet has nearly 20 grams of protein.  Also, butterfish contains B-vitamins, as well as iron, magnesium and the amino acids that make butterfish a source of complete protein.
