Ingredients
1 whole fryer, about 3 to 3 1/2 lbs.
1 can (12 oz.) of your favorite beer, preferably a lager
Your favorite rub or herb mix
Directions
- Preheat grill or oven to 350° F.
- Coat the chicken thoroughly using your favorite rub. This can be your own blend, your favorite store brand, or use one of ours!
- Grab your beer can. You will only need half of the beer in the can, so pour half into a glass and enjoy! (You can also pour the excess beer into a shallow fireproof baking dish and place your beer can chicken in the middle.) Spread the legs of your chicken and carefully slip it onto the can.
- Place the chicken and beer can upright on the grill. If you are using a beer can chicken holder, slip the beer can in the middle and gently push the chicken down so that half of the can is inside the bird.
- If you are cooking on the grill, close the lid. Cook until the juices run clear and the meat next to the bone is no longer pink – about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Remove the chicken and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
